Our Vision

Our Vision
A strong, active and inclusive civil society working across London to build healthy communities and improve quality of life for all

Our Aim
To increase and improve civic participation in London

Our Role
To be a hub for civic engagement in London, providing a focus of civic activity at a strategic level by:

  • Creating a space where the community, voluntary, public and private sectors learn from local people how civic engagement truly works
  • Providing the public sector, particularly local authorities, a place to work in partnership with voluntary and community organizations to define issues and find solutions
  • Providing a place to develop, test and share good practice about successful solutions by identifying how citizens influence public decisions that affect their lives
  • Providing a place for citizens, the organizations that represent them, business networks and Government to meet to build common ground and strengthen relationships

Our Strategic Objectives
London Civic Forum:

  • Champions civic engagement by exploring the ways people get involved with civic institutions and examining how those avenues of involvement can lead to better decision-making and more effective use of London’s public resources
  • Makes power systems accessible by equipping London citizens with the knowledge, confidence and skills to make their individual and collective voices heard, thus increasing communities’ capabilities to effect social change.
  • Brokers relationships by creating links between sectors and supporting networking that increases and improves the relationships between citizens and governing bodies
  • Delivers locally by using its understanding of, and connection to, city-wide relationships to ensure that barriers to community civic participation are overcome at all levels

London Civic Forum is actively opposed to discrimination and is committed to promoting a tolerant, inclusive and diverse city.
