Everyone’s talking about community organising. But what does it mean for London?
This interactive event gave participants the chance to learn about community organising from the people who are already doing it, hear about the latest advances in research, discuss whether this is the right model for London’s diverse communities and think about what it means for the public and voluntary sector.
Keynote speaker: Maurice Glasman, London Citizens and Labour Party
Workshops:
- Toby Blume, Urban Forum: Is community organising a threat to councils?
- Peter Lewis, LVSC: What does community organising mean for the voluntary sector and communities of interest (first session)
- Matthew Bolton, London Citizens: Community organising in London: where are we now? (second session)
- Tom Neumark and Gaia Marcus, RSA: What does social network research tell us about community organising and development?
- Matt Scott, Community Sector Coalition: Is there a difference between community development and community organising?
