2013: Gaining from the Games and What Comes After

The event- organised by London Civic Forum and the Big Opportunity- provided an opportunity for voluntary and community sector organisations to gain a deeper understanding of how they can contribute to staging an inclusive Games and more importantly, contribute to, help sustain and benefit from their legacy.

The conference covered the fields of Community Sport, Equalities, Jobs and Training, Inter Faith Work, Accessible Design, Culture, PR, Environmental Sustainability and Legacy. The conference was held at the fabulous 'Sadler’s Wells' Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R 4TN Speakers included:

  • Rt. Hon Tessa Jowell
  • Kaye Hoey MP gave a presentation about the GLA legacy plan for sport
  • Munira Mirza, Head of Cultural Strategy Greater London Authority 
  • Loraine Martins, Head of Equalities and Training Olympic Delivery Authority
  • Dr Beatriz Garcia of Liverpool University Dr Garcia is one of Europe’s leading experts on measuring the social and economic impact of major events
