London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority

The principal purpose of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) is to run the London Fire Brigade. LFEPA also advises on fire safety, enforces fire safety laws and carries out emergency planning. Specific responsibilities also include responding to traffic accidents and other emergencies, including acts of terrorism and other catastrophes. The LFEPA has 17 members, appointed by the Mayor. Eight of the members are London Assembly Members, seven are borough councilors (nominated by borough councils), and two Mayoral nominations. Councillor Brian Coleman is the current Chairman and Leader of the LFEPA.
