Community Involvement & Diversity

This programme aims to work within and between organisations to raise the profile of issues of equality. We are working towards eradicating the barriers that prevent some people from being actively involved in public policy debate, development and decision-making.

The programme uses different approaches to ensure that those who represent a wide range of different communities can be brought together to discuss the issues around diversity, multiculturalism, equality, pluralism and cohesion. We are aiming to help our members and their communities to develop a greater understanding and awareness of the similarities they share within London, as well as the differences.

In light of this, London Civic Forum brings together community representatives to promote understanding, strengthen relationships and create a culture of co-operation around common agendas. This builds upon results achieved by previous activities, including the Standing Together Against Intolerance events, And Still I Rise anti-discrimination forum, 7/7 round-table discussions and consultation around the development of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights. The programme also follows on from the work of London Civic Forum's previous Voices Policy Commission.

This programme was funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. This project has now come to an end; to find out further information about any of the activities carried out in the last few years under the Community Involvement and Diversity project, please contact Deirdre at London Civic Forum.
