About:
Targeted Support provided strategic support to local authorities to help improve engagement and empowerment in local areas, particularly in communities where participation was low. We ran pilot projects, offered strategic and communications support and commissioned best practice research.
Goals:
Our objective was to improve engagement in London by supporting activities in local authorities.
Funders:
Targeted Support was funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government through the Community Development Foundation and was delivered by the Regional Empowerment Partnership in each region.
Timeline:
Targeted support was a two-year programme which ended in March 2011.

The development of Targeted Support activities was guided by each local authority according to their specific needs.
Targeted Support projects included:
- Building online engagement through IZWE
- Working with Operation Black Vote on “Who Runs” guides to local authorities
- Researching the empowerment needs of BAME lone mothers with the Limehouse Foundation
- Community Leadership Programme, promoting resident civic activism, Community evaluators – developing new approaches to local problem solving
