About:
London Civic Forum, through its Your Voice, Your City programme, is one of the lead agencies on Just Space, an independent London regional network of voluntary and community groups.
Goals:
Our objective is to bring voluntary and community groups together to improve Londoners’ access to spatial planning policies and their application.
Timeline:
On-going
Additional information:
Spatial planning has become more important to the delivery of sustainable and equitable local communities, and many groups concerned with equalities have had involvement with spatial planning issues.
Community groups are more likely to be aware of opportunities to feed into Borough consultations than to regional processes and are not always aware of helpful regional developments, particularly as many London regional strategic policies form the law that governs Borough decisions, thus having an impact on the local community.
Just Space attempts to address these issues by:
- Maintaining an overview of strategic planning issues and their implementation
- Raising awareness of regional planning policies at local (Borough) level
- Sharing learning with the local Borough in a way that informs involvement in local development frameworks
- Working in partnership to strengthen and diversify the membership of existing groups and to build the capacity of equalities sectors
- Developing plain language information that is accessible for all Londoners.
