Connecting Communities
On 14 October 2009, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, John Denham, announced a new £12m Connecting Communities programme which provides additional funding and support to over 100 local authority areas suffering most from the effects of the recession. This programme includes a £1m Targeted Support programme.

Targeted Support
As part of the Connecting Communities programme, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government also announced a £1m Targeted Support programme, to be delivered by the Regional Empowerment Partnership in each region. This programme provides strategic support to local authorities to improve engagement and empowerment in their local area.
